My DIYs
I love doing things with my hands. There's something very grounding about doing manual work for hours with your own hands. Most people would call it an inconvenience. I like to think of it as the art of inconvenience. The inconvenience is what gives it meaning. It asks for effort, presence, and staying even when things get hard.
Like digging through crates of dusty records to find an absolute hidden gem of a banger instead of just streaming it.
Or throwing a piece of clay on the wheel, having it collapse a thousand times over, until it finally molds into something that makes you smile every time you see it in your home.
Or seeing a piece of high-end jewelry and deciding to take on a 6,500-year-old technique called lost-wax casting (with face shields, heavy-duty gloves, and all), to make it for yourself.
Anyways, here's proof that taking the inconvenient path is (sometimes) worth it.
